PriceProof

Privacy policy

Last updated: 5 October 2026

This policy explains what happens to information when you visit price-proof.com. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past, so it is specific about what we do and do not collect.

The short version: PriceProof does not ask you for personal information, does not run accounts, does not set its own tracking cookies, and does not sell data. If advertising is enabled on this site, a third-party advertising network sets cookies — and this policy explains exactly what that means and how to opt out.

Information you give us

The only personal information we receive is what you choose to send us. If you email [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we keep it for as long as it takes to deal with the matter and to keep a record of the correction if one results. We do not add you to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list, and we do not use your address for anything other than replying to you.

Information collected automatically

Like nearly every website, our hosting provider records standard server log data when a page is served: the requested URL, a timestamp, an approximate region derived from your IP address, a user-agent string identifying your browser, and a referring URL if you arrived from a link. This is used to keep the site running, to diagnose errors, and to understand roughly how many people read what. It is not used to build a profile of you, and it is not combined with information from any other source.

PriceProof itself sets no cookies of its own. It has no login, no shopping cart, no comment system, and no analytics product that follows you across other sites.

Advertising and third-party cookies

PriceProof intends to fund itself with advertising, and the advertising network we use is Google AdSense. Whether or not ads are currently displayed on a given page, this is what you should know about how Google advertising works on this site, because it is materially different from the rest of our data practices.

Your choices and how to opt out

You are not obliged to accept personalised advertising, and the industry provides standard ways to decline it:

Visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, ad personalisation requires your consent, and consent must be freely given, specific and withdrawable. Where required, this site presents a consent notice before any non-essential advertising cookie is set, and you may refuse. Refusing consent does not restrict your access to any part of this site — no content here is gated behind an advertising choice, and withdrawing consent later is as easy as giving it.

Children

This site is written for professional buyers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we do not knowingly serve interest-based advertising to them.

Analytics

Where we measure traffic at all, we prefer aggregate, cookie-free measurement that does not follow visitors between sites. If we ever adopt a tool that does track across sites, it will be listed in this section by name, and it will be subject to the same consent requirement as advertising cookies.

What we never do

Third-party links

Product pages link to USAspending.gov award records and, where a vendor publishes a list price, to the vendor's own pricing page. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's site, and their privacy policy governs what happens there. We do not control those sites and we do not pass any information about you to them beyond the ordinary referrer header your browser sends.

Data retention and your rights

Server logs are retained for a short period for operational purposes and then discarded. Email correspondence is kept while it remains useful as a record — particularly where it resulted in a correction — and you may ask us to delete your messages at any time.

If you are in a jurisdiction with data-protection rights (for example the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. In practice the answer is almost always "an email you sent us, if you sent one". Requests go to [email protected] and we will respond within the period the applicable law requires. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes materially — a new advertising partner, a new analytics tool, a change in what we retain — the change is made here and the "last updated" date above moves. We do not make silent changes.
